STEP 1: COMPETENCY CERTIFICATION
Once you've successfully completed your firearm proficiency course, you'll apply for competency at SAPS.

STEP 2: PURCHASE YOUR FIREARM AND APPLY FOR FOR OUR LICENCE
You can purchase a firearm at any stage during the competency waiting period. This is a good time to start testing firearms to see which suits your needs and to sign up for private training with Gunnery Arms & Ammo on how to handle and use of your firearm.

Once you've received your competency certification from SAPS and have purchased your firearm, you will need a written motivation to apply for your firearm licence. We can assist with compiling your entire application including the motivation. Our partner, Gunlicence will assist you.

Types of motivations may differ

  • New firearm motivations
  • Pre-owned firearm motivations
  • Estate-owned firearm motivations
  • Estate firearms inherited or purchased from the estate motivations

STEP 3: PURCHASE YOUR FIREARM AND APPLY FOR OUR LICENCE

Once your firearm licence has been approved by SAPS, you will be notified by SMS.
You'll receive another SMS once your card / printout is ready for collection from your DFO.
Once you have this card / printout, you may collect your firearm from Gunnery Arms & Ammo
